1. Hope
Your team needs to have hope that they are headed somewhere and doing something worth their time if you want to get the best out of them.
“A person, who no matter how desperate the situation, gives others hope, is a true leader.” Daisaku Ikeda
2. Inspiration
If you can’t cause people to move then you aren’t leading anything. Have a story to tell, and tell it well and consistently.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams
“Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
3. Vision
If you don’t know where your team is headed then mostly likely they’re headed nowhere.
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery
4. Logic
If you make no sense to your team, then chances are your organization makes no sense to anyone else. Buy in starts with those closest to you.
“Good leaders make people feel that they’re at the very heart of things, not at the periphery. Everyone feels that he or she makes a difference to the success of the organization. When that happens, people feel centered and that gives their work meaning.” Warren Bennis
5. Problem Solving
Make decisions quickly and decisively. You don’t always need to be right, but you do always need to make a decision.
“Business is dependent upon action. It cannot go forward by hesitation.” Harry Hopf
6. Expectations
Be clear where your team needs to grow.
“Nobody rises to low expectations.” Calvin Lloyd
7. Praise
If you appreciate your team everyone should know it.
“Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone”
